Frequently Asked Questions

What is Aeroponics?

Aeroponics is the process of growing plants without soil or aggregate medium. Plants are suspended in temperature-controlled rooms and their roots are sprayed with a water or nutrient solution. The aeroponic system ensures plants experience optimal growing conditions 365 days a year resulting in some of the highest quality products available on the market today.

What Are The Advantages?

Increased Resource Efficiency
95% Less Water-  Aeroponics is the process of growing plants without soil or an aggregate medium. This means plants absorb the water they need while the rest of the water is recycled and re-sprayed. With almost no waste water, the AeroFodder system is great for saving water, or for use during dry season or droughts.

99% Less Land- The use of vertical racking systems means significantly higher yields per square foot. Vertical racking paired with shorter growing times provides farmers with exponentially more growing capacity than traditional field growing methods.

Shorter Growing Times & Higher Quality Product
As plants in the AeroFodder Grow Room are grown in optimal conditions and have increased access to nutrients, growing times are significantly reduced and the harvested products are of the highest quality possible.

365 Days/Year of Optimal Production
The AeroFodder Grow Room is a fully enclosed, controlled environment, capable of operating in almost any climate on earth. This means that producers from the dry deserts to the arctic tundras and everywhere in between can have access to lush, green vegetation 365 days a year.

How Can I Save On Feed Costs?

1. Fodder is a More Efficient Feed

Fodder is  more digestible than grain making it more valuable to the animal. Even though fodder has less dry matter than grain, the higher digestibility means it can be replaced at a rate that can reduce the cost of the ration. Studies have shown that sprouting grains can increase their efficiency by up to 45%

2. Synergies With Forages & Secondary Feeds

Aside from sprouted grains being more digestibly efficient than their non-sprouted  counterparts, sprouted grains also contain enzymes that help make more efficient use of forages and secondary feeds. This is especially true for ruminants as the enzymes and chemical composition of the fodder can help reduce the amount of secondary feeds required by up to 7%.
